The Play

When a player cannot play a card without exceeding the total of 31, they say "Go" and the other player continues to play cards until both players cannot play any more cards. Players earn points for combinations of cards played during the play.
Scoring during Play
Combinations that earn points during the play include:
- Fifteens: Each combination of cards that adds up to 15 earns 2 points. For example, a 10 and a 5, or a 9, 4, and 2.
- Runs: A run of three or more consecutive cards (regardless of suit) earns 1 point per card. For example, a 2, 3, and 4, or a 7, 8, 9, and 10.
- Pairs: Two cards of the same rank played consecutively earn 2 points. For example, two 8s or two queens.
- Flush: If all cards played during the play are of the same suit, the player earns 4 points. An additional point is earned if the card cut from the deck (the community card) is also of the same suit.
Scoring the Crib
After the play, the non-dealer scores the crib. The crib is scored using the same methods as the play, with the addition of a special combination called the "nobs." If the player who did not deal has a jack of the same suit as the card cut from the deck, they earn 1 point.
The Count
At the end of each hand, players count their hands and the crib to determine the total number of points earned. Players also earn points for reaching certain counts during the play. For example, if a player plays a card that brings the total to 31, they earn 2 points, or if they play the last card, they earn 1 point.
Once the counts have been determined, players move their pegs on the cribbage board to represent their total score. The first player to reach 121 points wins the game!
