Choosing the Materials

Sewing the Cushion

Adding Closure

If you opted for a cushion with a zipper closure, now is the time to add it. Place the backing fabric piece on top of the sewn cushion cover with the right sides facing each other. Align the edges and pin or clip in place.

Sew around three sides of the cushion cover, leaving one side open for inserting the pillow. If using a sewing machine, switch to a zipper foot attachment for easier sewing along the zipper. Once sewn, carefully open the zipper halfway for turning the cover right side out.

Stuffing the Cushion

Now that the cushion cover is complete, it's time to stuff it. Insert your chosen padding material through the zipper opening, filling the cushion evenly. Adjust the stuffing until you achieve the desired level of comfort and firmness.

Once the cushion is adequately stuffed, carefully close the zipper. If you're not using a zipper closure, you can hand stitch the open side using a needle and thread or a slip stitch.

Final Touches

To give your cushion a polished look, take a moment to smooth out any wrinkles or unevenness in the fabric. You can also give it a gentle ironing if necessary. Trim any loose threads and ensure the seams are secure.
