Longboard Bearing Selection and Installation

Longboard bearings play a crucial role in the performance and smoothness of your ride. Choosing the right bearings and installing them properly can greatly enhance your longboarding experience. In this article, we will guide you through the process of bearing selection and installation.

Selecting the Right Bearings

When choosing bearings for your longboard, consider the following factors:

Installation Process

Installing bearings may seem daunting at first, but with the right tools and technique, it's a straightforward process. Here is a step-by-step guide:

  1. Begin by removing the wheels from your longboard. You can use a skate tool or a wrench to unscrew the nuts holding the wheels in place.
  2. Once the wheels are detached, remove the old bearings by gently prying them out using a bearing press tool or a skate tool. Be careful not to damage the bearing or the wheel while removing them.
  3. Clean the wheel and bearing housing thoroughly using a cloth or tissue to remove any dirt or debris.
  4. Apply a small amount of bearing lubricant or skate lube to each bearing. This will ensure smooth rotation and reduce friction.
  5. Place the bearings into the wheel's bearing housing. Make sure they are aligned correctly.
  6. Gently press the bearings into place using a bearing press tool or the axle of the trucks. Apply even pressure to ensure they are fully seated.
  7. Repeat the process for all the wheels.
  8. Finally, reattach the wheels to the longboard by tightening the nuts securely. Ensure they are tightened enough to prevent wheel wobble but not too tight to hinder the rotation of the wheels.

With your new bearings properly installed, you are ready to hit the streets and enjoy a smoother, faster, and more enjoyable longboarding experience!

Remember to regularly clean and maintain your bearings to extend their lifespan and optimize performance. Now go out there and shred!
